A Windows laptop that will not boot does not always mean the files are gone. The problem may involve Windows, the file system, the SSD, the laptop electronics or accidental deletion. Marty’s Data Recovery assesses supported Windows laptops, SATA SSDs and NVMe SSDs in Dublin.
Common warning signs
- The laptop starts but Windows will not load.
- The SSD is missing from Windows or the BIOS.
- Folders have disappeared or files will not open.
- The computer asks to initialise or format a drive.
- The SSD works intermittently or becomes read-only.
What to do first
Turn the laptop off if the missing files are important. Reinstalling Windows, resetting the PC or continuing to download files can overwrite recoverable data. Deleted-file recovery from SSDs can also be affected by TRIM, so prompt assessment matters.
Assessment and recovery
The device type and symptoms are checked before a recovery route is recommended. When recovery is possible, files are copied to separate storage rather than written back to the affected SSD.
Service scope: This service covers supported Windows laptops and individual SSDs. Mac and RAID recovery are not offered.
